Talk quickly turned to club business which included sign-up sheets for meeting hostess and tutorials. We decided that each member would do a little tutorial on some thing they felt proficient at in order to grow the club skill set & keep things interesting. In the coming year, we're looking forward to tutorials on making polymer clay vegetables & cakes, making our own pottery without a kiln, how to do mini knitting and micro crocheting and we may even get in some how to on woodworking.
We had a quick discussion about our next show which will be May 4, 2025 at the Centre Wellington Community Sportplex. Even though it's still quite far away, everyone has already started their project for our exciting streetscape display.
We organized jobs for our upcoming bazaar on September 22, 2024 at the Puslinch Community Centre starting noon. We're excited and looking forward to seeing our vendors and fellow miniaturist who are looking for a bargain!
We're also very excited about the upcoming MET (Miniature Enthusiasts of Toronto) show at the Japanese Cultural Centre in Toronto on October 19, 2024. The club will have a table as we are going to be offering for sale several antique pieces created by, the well respected miniaturist & furniture maker, Victor Gossman. Victor retired earlier this year and generously donated several pieces for the betterment of the club. These are Victor's last one of a kind pieces and they feel very special because there won't ever be any more created by him. I'm sure they will be snapped up very quickly. Hopefully we'll see a lot of our friends there. The club wishes Victor all the happiness and health in the world during his retirement; he will be missed. Hopefully he will stop in to shows now and then to say hello.
We closed out the meeting enjoying yummy chocolate cake and sweet grapes with tea and coffee and before we knew it it was time to start packing up.
