It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas.......

Well it's that time of year again when all around us we sing-a-long to the Jingle Bells melody, we break out the favourite family Christmas cookie recipes, we decorate trees, wrap presents and start to feel a growing warmth in our chests that isn't reflux, but the joy & happiness we feel when we think of family and friends and the time that we will spend together at this festive holiday time.

Before I get onto the fun stuff, a little housekeeping. I've been experiencing some troubles with uploading photos in the blog entries. For some reason the program will randomly replace previously uploaded photos in other blog entries with the current photos that I'm uploading. I've reached out to Weebly twice and unfortunately received no customer support so I'm muddling through on my own. If you pop in to read the blog and then you see a day or two later the pictures are all changed you now know why. Bear with me as I try to sort this out.

Our final club meeting for 2024 was on December 11. They were forecasting ugly weather but Santa was good, the weather held and almost everybody was able to make it! Weather is always a serious consideration for us when we have members coming from London, Cambridge, Brantford, Fergus, Elora, Guelph & Georgetown.

Our first order of business was to discuss the upcoming 40th Anniversary Miniature Show which we will be hosting at the Sportsplex in Fergus, May 2025. We are all very excited about the entire event but we're especially excited about newly planned T-shirts and commemorative pins. Hosting a show like this is an incredible undertaking & a huge amount of work, from the initial planning stages, preparing the budget, fund raising, dealing with insurance and the venue, entering into contracts with the vendors, coordinating the volunteer workforce and the members and then of course happily seeing everyone there. Most of the members are well on their way to completing their show projects and I think it's fair to say there's a real air of excitement starting to build.
In keeping with the festive season, our tutorial for this meeting was to learn how to make miniature Poinsettias in a pot. M, our resident flower making expert, created poinsettia kits for every member and then conducted a wonderful tutorial on how to make them. Small details like, how to create volume within the flower, how to use your ball stylist to give curvature and shape to each petal, and how to place leave so they look realistic, brings an authenticity to the Poinsettia arrangement. It always blows my mind that a couple pieces of coffee filter, painted & glued and some floral wire can make such beautiful creations.
At the November meeting, we decided to have a Christmas tea potluck so everyone brought tins of Christmas baking. I think I speak for all the members when I say our meetings are always such a pleasurable time of fellowship and socializing. We leave feeling uplifted and recharged in our miniature endeavors.

Typically we would also have a Zoom meeting on the third Wednesday of the month but it will be Christmas so there'll be no Zoom meeting this month.

By the time we see each other again it will be 2025. From all of us to all of you we wish you a very Merry Christmas and a very Happy New Year. And as the immortal Tiny Tim would say

"God bless us, everyone".
