Continuing to work on minis

Today, I thought I would post a couple of photos showing my current mini projects.  The first is a photo of a miniature rug I am currently stitching for my Beachfront mansion.  It is worked on 40 count silk gauze using DMC floss.  I am thoroughly enjoying stitching the outlines for the motifs in the middle right now. The weather doesn't look too promising so it will be easy to stay inside and work on my stitching today instead of going outside to garden. 😉

The photo below shows the outside of my Beachfront mansion and the siding that I am putting on.  I decided to cut some strips of aluminum to finish off the corners of the siding and give it a more professional look.  The aluminum is already white but doesn't quite match the white I am using so I will be painting it to match.

What is everyone else doing these days in their mini work?  Members of the OMEGA group, please email me with some photos and I will post them here for everyone to see.

Our Miniature Show

4/9/2020

Due to these uncertain times, we have decided to cancel our 2020 Miniature Show and Sale for the health and safety of our miniature community. We have booked the Wellington Centre Sportsplex in Fergus for our next miniature show and sale for May 2nd, 2021. All payments from our vendors have not been cashed. All cheques will be marked void.
At this time, we hope that our Miniature Bazaar, scheduled for September 20th in Puslinch will still be a go. Check back here for more information as it becomes available.
In the meantime, please support our vendors. They need your sales to stay in business. Continue to self distance and enjoy your miniature projects, create, finish your UFOs and keep your mind occupied.

Marg L has been busy making a doll, some dogs and some books for her bookshelf.  The bookshelf is one that we made during one of our miniature meetings last year.  Great work Marg!

Keeping busy during Covid-19

Today marks the beginning of my fourth week of social distancing and isolation due to Covid-19 and we haven't been able to have our Miniature meetings.  I thought today, I would post some photos of my current miniature project as I have been using the "home time" to work on it.  This is the Leon Gothic Mansion in 1/12th scale.  I purchased it last year from The Little Dollhouse Company.  My plan is for it to become a Beachfront mansion and I will be incorporating everything that I have learned about miniature house building and landscaping so far.  The photo above and below are compilations of my progress to date.
The above photo shows the dry assembly of the house without the turret and my finishing of the first and second floors.  The wood flooring is made up of narrow strips of veneer which I cut out and glued onto painter's quality matboard (it doesn't warp as much as regular matboard).  In the Library, I will be making a window seat and a corner shelf to fill in the right hand corner of the room.  The flooring in the bathroom and sewing room are peel and stick tiles that I found at my local Dollar Store.  All of the wallpapers in the house were printed on my computer.
In the photo below, you can see the Kid's room and Master Bedroom/Sitting room of the third floor, along with the turret, gazebo I plan to have attach to the porch, and the beginning of the siding on the house.  I am currently working on the Master bedroom/Sitting room.  The flooring in this room was made with coffee stir sticks which I lightly stained and varnished.  The flooring in the Kid's room is a fine blanket cloth with a very low pile to look like carpet.  In the Wizard's loft, I have put down tongue depressors as the flooring and stained it dark.  I have left it rough and un-sanded but have put on one coat of sealant to protect the wood.  That stained glass window in the front door were designed by my daughter Cheryl and I painted them using Gallery Glass paint.

I would love to see and post photos of other projects everyone in our club is doing during this time, so please send me photos and a write-up of what you are doing and I can post them here for everyone to see.  During this time that we can't get together, it would be great to see what you are all up to and give us all some wonderful eye candy!
Stay safe and I hope to see everyone soon. 🙂
